How Your Shoes are Affecting Your Health
You are an electrical device. The electrical signals that move through your body power and pace your heart, fire synapses in your brain, and much more. Without electricity charging your atoms both positively and negatively, you simply wouldn't function.
The earth has an electrical charge, just like you do, and for most of human history we evolved to be in sync with the ground. We walked barefoot or wore leather soles. We slept on the ground, wrapped in natural elements. We were in constant contact with the negative electric charge of the earth.
What this meant for us as we evolved is that our conductive bodies were essentially receiving free electrons from the limitless quantity that exists in the ground.
And then, everything changed.
In the 1950s, humans began manufacturing shoes differently. We used rubber, plastic, and other synthetic composites to make our soles, instead of leather, which is conductive. In doing so, we changed the dynamic of our relationship with the ground.
It's only gotten worse since then. We rarely walk barefoot anymore. Many of us live, sleep and work high above the ground, completely insulated from its energy. Our modern lifestyles have completely eliminated our connection to the earth.
The way this has impacted and transformed our health has been going unnoticed – until now.
Immune dysfunction and inflammation-related health disorders have been on the rise for decades, in both children and adults. These disorders are unnatural and are related to chronic disease, which is related to the aging process.
In a recent study, published in the 2012 Journal of Environmental and Public Health article*, research showed that the influx of electrons from the earth had a significant effect on inflammation-related disorders, and that there may be a way to reverse their effects.
This influx of electrons, or connection to the natural surface of the earth, was called "grounding" or "earthing" by the experts. Earthing actually discharges and prevents chronic inflammation in the body and has massive implications for human health.
While more research is needed, here are some things you can do right now to align your body with the earth's energy, receive its negative charge, and experience natural health and healing:
Walk barefoot outside whenever you can.
Wear grounding shoes, like EarthRunners, for conductivity.
Sleep on grounding sleep systems mats and pillows.
Work or relax on conductive systems designed for the home or office.
