RAUM LEATHER GROUNDING SHOES
With a mission to “connect people back to mother earth,” California-based Raum Goods offers thoughtfully designed, well-made, eco-friendly shoes that are designed to mimic the experience of going barefoot....but with greater comfort.
Raum offers two types of grounding shoes - their original design with naturally conductive leather soles and copper rivets, and their brand new Mecca style with carbonized, conductive rubber soles (more on these grounding technologies below).
All Raum grounding shoes are minimalist / barefoot design with zero-drop soles (no arch support); most styles also feature roomy toe boxes.
All are also shipped in sustainable packaging: recycled and recyclable boxes or reusable linen bags. To further walk their talk, Raum donates 1% of their annual sales to various nonprofits and charities with similar eco-friendly values.
Did you know that over 200 steps go into the meticulous crafting of Raum’s leather and copper-soled grounding shoes? We can point out all the things we appreciate about these shoes, but this video really paints a better picture. It’s really an amazing process!
Note: Because many Raum shoes have leather outer soles, slippage may occur. Choose Mecca style with rubber soles if concerned about traction. Also, because most Raum soles and uppers are predominantly made of leather, Raum grounding shoes are best for dry weather conditions.
HOW DO RAUM SHOES GROUND YOU?
Raum utilizes two different grounding technologies. Their newest Mecca line grounds wearers via grippy rubber soles that are infused with conductive carbon; these soles connect to conductive silver threading in the insoles to deliver ground energy into the feet.
All other Raum grounding shoes utilize naturally conductive leather soles that are augmented with highly conductive copper rivets. Raum styles with leather soles include lace-ups, slides, and all non-Mecca slip ons.
MECCA slip-on conductive elements: carbon and silver
Raum Mecca slip-ons ground you via carbon-infused rubber outsoles that then transfer Earth energy into the feet through pure silver conductive stitching in the insoles. Rubber outsoles offer more traction and durability, especially on wet surfaces.
All other Raum styles ground you via leather soles with copper rivets
Both copper and leather are naturally conductive and become even more so when the feet sweat. The copper rivets, which are hand-hammered through the soles, are also strategically positioned to activate the KD 1 acupuncture points of the feet.

OUR TEAM’S THOUGHTS - RAUM GROUNDING SHOE REVIEWS
Mudcloth Slip Ons - “These Raums are head-turners, with the attractive checked design with nice cloth texture!
They’re superbly comfortable, as well, with a soft water buffalo (yes, water buffalo) leather sole. The copper conductive rivet can feel cold if weather is not warm. So stick with dry and warm for this style. I went a half-size larger than usual with this pair, and they’re a snug fit, so they may run a bit small - consider grabbing a half size up. Dress it up or down…quality and cool sum it up!"

Acorn Slide Sandals - “Verrrrry nice & comfy shoes -I love them! In just 2-3 days of wear, the soft leather uppers have broken in and contain my feet with just the right amount of resistance. And the leather inner soles are also becoming smoother; my toes took a few days to get used to the feel of the thread, and now I don’t notice it. These shoes are definitely best for dry conditions, as they’re almost entirely high quality leather - even the soles. Walking the line between elegant and casual, they’re charming additions to a warm-weather wardrobe.”
Tan Meccas - “I LOVE these shoes - they’re even comfier than they look! Your feet are enveloped in smooth leather and soft suede on the outside. The cork inner sole is moderate cushioning and the rubber outer sole is nice and flexible. I went 1/2 size up and they’re a perfect fit. They’ve passed the wear-them-all-day-walking test, on cobblestone streets no less, and kept my feet (and low back) feeling A-okay. For those that appreciate a barefoot design fit (no arch support), this is footwear you want to live in, even when not grounding…they’re frumpalicious!”
