Don’t Let THE Weather Give You Cold Feet About Grounding!
Earthing Socks Are Here
Keep Your Feet Warm and Connected
When temperatures outside drop, standing barefoot outdoors to access Earth’s restorative energy may be too cold for comfort. Having grounding shoes keeps you a step ahead, as does wearing grounding socks - either with those shoes or alone. Below, we feature grounding socks we’ve tried from trusted brands to help you decide which may be right for you.
-
Grounding, or Earthing, socks are special socks that help conduct the Earth’s natural electron from the ground into your feet.
-
Grounding socks not only keep your feet warm like regular socks; they are also specifically designed to conduct electrons from a natural earth surface into your feet. While regular socks may not block Earth energy, they can dull its flow into your body, plus you need to sweat in regular socks to effectuate conductivity. Because they are woven with conductive silver, grounding socks enhance that flow rather than muffle it and eliminate the need for sweat!
-
Silver is highly conductive of electrical energy; of all the metals, it is actually the best conductor. Silver is also a very effective conductor of thermal energy, or heat. By wearing socks made with silver threads or fibers, you can ground AND keep your feet warm.
And if you sweat, no worries! Silver is anti-microbial and anti-bacterial, so you’ll get enhanced conductivity without that stinky feet odor you get with regular socks.
In my experience, the silver-threaded socks (#s 1-3 below) have kept my feet warm enough, but not hot or sweaty. Research also shows that socks with silver that silver-containing fabrics are thermoregulatory.
How to ground in GROUNDING SOCKS?
Designed for better conductivity, most grounding socks, themselves, will not connect you to Earth’s natural, electromagnetic energy fields (except our first featured sock below by Earthing). In order to access Earth energy, your feet need to be in direct contact with a conductive ground surface like stone, dirt, grass, shells or gravel. Metals, brick and unpainted concrete will also conduct energy when atop one of these surfaces.
To ground in grounding socks, you can stand, stretch, etc. on any of these surfaces or wear them with grounding shoes (also on such surfaces). Alternately, wear them indoors and place your feet in contact with an Earthing mat or sleep system for warmth without sacrificing strength of conductivity.

Which Grounding Socks Are Best for You?
Not all grounding socks are the same. While all the ones we’ve tried are woven with silver for optimal conductivity and hygiene, each sock brand makes their socks with a different blend of materials. Your feet may love merino wool, while another person’s might prefer nylon or organic cotton. Here are our grounding sock recommendations based on fit, feel and function.
*Most Versatile Grounding Socks, Best Socks for Indoor Use*
Sock materials: 80-85% nylon, 15-20% silver fibers
$89 Kit includes: 2 pair of grounding socks, 4 coil cords, 2 U.S. Safety Adaptors and 2 U.S. Outlet Checkers
Dimensions: 12.5" long top to tip. Top opening width is 3.5"
Brought to you by Clint Ober (the modern grounding pioneer who co-wrote the original 2010 Earthing book with our dad, Cardiologist Dr. Sinatra), this Earthing sock kit offers the most versatility among grounding socks.
Not only can you wear them with grounding shoes or alone on a natural earth surface outside; you can actually plug these socks into the grounding port of your electrical outlet to directly connect to Earth energy. In other words, you don’t need to be standing on a natural earth surface or in contact with another Earthing device to use them. These socks are Earthing devices, in and of themselves!
Each sock has a snap that you connect a 15-foot cord to and plug into a Safety Adaptor inserted into a grounded outlet (this is what the Outlet Checker tests for). Wearing these socks indoors is like having an Earthing mat wrapped around your feet, except that mat is made of comfy, cozy nylon!
I love these socks because they give me an excuse to snuggle up on the couch and watch a movie in order to get my grounding fix :>)
Because I so enjoy the effects of wearing these grounding socks, I’ve also started sleeping in them (plugged in) to get even more hours of targeted sole grounding in. However, I would only recommend this for people who don’t sleepwalk or get out of bed in the middle of the night, as there is a potential risk of tripping over the cords.
When you want or need more mobility, you can unplug these socks and wear them like regular socks outdoors - alone or with grounding shoes. You can also wear them unplugged inside to keep your feet warm when grounding via an Earthing mat or mattress cover (which also solves the abovementioned cord issue when sleeping).

Prices range from $22 to $39 per pair
In this video, Harmony 783 CEO and Co-Founder Pam Bard briefly explains how Harmony 783 grounding shoes and socks work on a natural ground surface (stone/concrete) and tests their conductivity. She wears one Harmony 783 grounding sock and one regular sock under her Harmony 783 Grounding Shoes. You can see how Pam stays grounded in both pairs of socks and the shoes while her feet are planted on stone/concrete, and that she loses conductivity when she loses contact with the ground.
I recently bought a pair of Harmony 783 Low Cut Gray Merino Wool Grounding Socks, and found them to be comfy and warm but not too thick. They fit very nicely with grounding shoes, and their partially-padded ankle line keeps my skin free of those red imprint marks.
3. TRU47 GROUNDING SOCKS
*USA-Made with Premium Quality Materials, Variety of Materials and Styles, Value Packs Offer Savings*
TRU47 Founder Sharon Whiteley is another pioneer in the grounding space and co-wrote Get Grounded Get Well with Dr. Sinatra and Step Sinatra. Harnessing the natural anti-microbial and conductive qualities of silver, Sharon created an entire line of products made with 99.99% pure silver fabrics and thread to help keep people (and pets) healthy.
TRU47 now offers grounding socks in a cozy merino wool blend, as well as a combed cotton blend. Each sock is also 10% pure silver for conductivity and anti-microbial protection.
All TRU47 grounding socks are made in the USA with USA-made yarn
Toes and soles are woven with the highest-grade 99% iconically-plated silver throughout
3 Unisex styles: no-show, low-cut and quarter
4 Unisex sizes: S, M, L, XL
1 color: white top and gray bottom:
Light compression in the arch for support
Prices range from $27 to $29 per pair, or $74 to $82 for 3-packs
I bought, and am now keeping my feet nice and warm with, a pair of Tru47 Quarter Merino Wool Grounding Socks. They have medium thickness, fit great under grounding shoes, and are very comfortable!
4. EARTHRUNNER TOE AND TABI SOCKS
If you live in your sandals and will only don closed-toed shoes in frigid temps, we have good news! Earthrunners now offers toe and tabi socks so you can keep wearing their awesome grounding sandals in colder weather.
NOTE: Earthrunner socks do NOT contain conductive silver threading like the grounding socks mentioned above. Hence, they are not grounding socks with enhanced conductivity, but normal socks specifically designed for sandal wear. You will need to sweat in these socks to create enough moisture for conductivity.
Toe socks are like mittens for your feet. They have one area for the big toe and another to hold the 4 other digits. Tabi socks, on the other foot, are like gloves with a pocket for each toe.
Tabi sock materials: 53% Cruelty-Free Merino Wool, 30% Nylon, 12% Acrylic & 5% Lycra Spandex - good for medium cold temps (to freezing)
Toe sock materials (vegan friendly): 34% COOLmax (Polyester), 11% Cotton, 22% Polyester, 30% Nylon, 3% Lycra - good for mild cold.
6 Different sizes of each sock: S, M & L for both men and women
Prices range from $16 to $24 per pair
I have not personally tried either pair of Earthrunner socks, so I can’t give an opinion on them, but have included them here because I LOVE my Earthrunner sandals and trust this brand.
