ARE GROUNDED RUNNING SHOES GOOD FOR ME?

In a nutshell, yes, as long as you wear them running on a conductive natural earth surface. When you do this, you’re simultaneously engaging in three activities known to promote good health and wellbeing.

Imagine running through the woods, on a mountain trail, on the beach or even on a dirt road in the countryside. You’re feeling a host of exercise benefits including more oxygen flooding your system and maybe even a “runner’s high.” You’re also experiencing health benefits from simply being out in nature…like reduced stress and greater well being. Such is why “green exercise,” or exercising in nature, is taking hold as a powerful, natural way to get and stay healthy. Some call it “exercise squared.”

What if you then added the benefits of grounding to that mix?

This is what an innovative duo had in mind when creating their Bahé line of sustainably produced, grounded running shoes…an exponential increase in all those positive effects of green exercise which they refer to as, “exercise cubed” (exercise 3).

Since Bahé’s grounded, green exercise mission aligns perfectly with our views on grounded exercise in nature, Step and I had to get our feet into their shoes! We each tried out a pair, and -happy with their feel, look and performance- are excited to share the Bahé brand with you.

Ultimately, Bahé’s mission is to support a healthier connection to the earth through exercise - something we can really get behind. We also love the name…Bahé is the Hindi word for “flow,” and captures the essence of the flow of earth energy that helps us better “go with the flow” of life.

What’s Special About BAHÉ GroundED RUNNING Shoes?

Bahé shoes are:

  • SUSTAINABLY MADE - Most of the materials used to make Bahé shoes are recycled plastics or are plant-based (corn, sugarcane, organic cotton);

  • VEGAN-FRIENDLY

  • GROUNDED via a multi-layer ground flow system which permits the passing of earth’s natural electrons through the sole (more on this below).

  • BUILT FOR PERFORMANCE, LONGEVITY & COMFORT - featuring breathable mesh and treated upper and splash proof panels, Bahé runners are among the more water resistant grounding shoes. They also contain heel and toe reinforcements for durability;

  • INSPIRED BY NATURE - not only did Bahé create grounded running shoes to help people spend more time exercising in nature, they designed them with a reverence for nature’s simple, natural colors and organic flowing lines.

  • AVAILABLE IN TWO STYLES: One is a REGULAR, MORE CUSHIONED FIT (RECHARGE) and the other is MINIMALIST / BAREFOOT DESIGN (REVIVE).

WHAT DIFFERENTIATES THE STYLES OF BAHÉ GROUNDED RUNNING SHOES?

Recognizing that people who are into grounding are often also into minimalist design shoes, Bahé offers two styles of grounded running shoes - barefoot design as well as traditional fit. The differences lie in the sole and toe box area designs, as well as the treads.

REVIVE - BAREFOOT STYLE

A lightweight, barefoot-style running shoe with thin and flexible zero-drop soles and a wide toe box to enhance ground feel and mimic the barefoot experience.

A traditional-style, more supportive running shoe with greater cushioning and full coverage outsole for comfort and long-lasting performance; regular fit toe box.

Both styles are grounded the same way via a multi-layer ground flow system in the soles. More on this below.

bahe grounded running shoes allow earth's electrons to pass through the feet via conductive soles

Unlike regular running shoes, Bahé grounded runners allow the Earth’s natural stream of electrons, which flow from natural earth surfaces (like dirt, grass, gravel, stone, brick and unpainted concrete). to pass into the feet via conductive soles.

Revive and Recharge have different treads and sole thicknesses, but are equally conductive.

REVIVE SOLES: multi-terrain grip, 4mm outsole, 3mm footbed, 10mm total stack height.

RECHARGE SOLES: full-coverage, 4mm grippy outsole; 8mm heel to toe drop; 27mm total stack height

HOW DO BAHÉ RUNNING SHOES GROUND YOU?

Both the Recharge and Revive styles will conduct the earth’s electrons into your feet when you’re standing on a natural earth surface like sand, rock or grass.

They accomplish this through a multi-layer ground flow system in each sole. This system includes four sole layers, each with a conductive element.

From the outsole, in which there is conductive carbon, the energy passes into the insole through a conductive loop in the midsole. The performance insole contains conductive stitching, through which the energy is delivered into the footbed. Additional conductive stitching in the footbed transfers the electrons into your feet.

Bahé’s ground flow system is lab-tested and certified to have the same conductivity as human skin.

If you wear socks, will they block the flow of Earth energy?

Most socks won’t, and become conductive when the feet sweat. Thinner cotton socks are recommended, though grounding socks will be the most conductive right off the bat.

OUR TEAM’S THOUGHTS - BAHÉ GROUNDING SHOE REVIEWS

For our first Bahés, we both opted for the Revive barefoot design style. Step bought a pair of Forest Revives and I got the Eclipses. I wish we could give you our input on the Recharges, but the allure of grounded barefoot design running sneakers was too great! We both are really enjoying the Revives and Step has already ordered another pair for himself.

I love these shoes - they are so comfortable...almost like slippers! They seem to run a bit big, but fit well. I dig the flat sole, but also that they have some padding. Wide toe box for sure! I feel like running Forrest Gump style in them. I come home and forget to take them off, they are so roomy.”

Super comfy shoes! After testing them on a treadmill to get a feel for the barefoot design, I started woods-jogging in them. They’re now a top go-to for nature walks, in part because they wipe down easily...Nature is a dirty girl! Mine are also a bit long because I’m a half size and rounded up, but I haven’t had any issues with sliding or blistering - they feel great on and have inspired me to run more often!
