Rhizal Noma Sheepskin-Lined Grounding Boots
We’re excited to introduce the newest addition to our grounding shoe collection - Rhizal!
Based in San Diego, CA, Rhizal does not mass-produce shoes. On the contrary, their lines of all-natural, leather grounding shoes are artisan-made by hand (in Europe and Pakistan) in family-owned facilities.
Rhizal’s shoes embody a love for comfort, senses of timelessness and tactility and a serious commitment to quality, all of which are demonstrated in the exceptional materials and expert craftsmanship. The styles are laid-back yet classic and ultra down to earth - literally: all are barefoot design and use copper rivets embedded within leather soles as grounding tech.

These are our impressions, at least, after trying out a few pairs (as shown in the above/left pictures). Because some were made to order, it took several weeks to receive them; Step got his within a week. But good things take time, and these grounding shoes did not disappoint. In our humble opinions, they exude quality and shoe-lover’s passion, not to mention a penchant for comfort.
That said, we have two caveats…First, we’ve found that Rhizal shoes run 1-2 sizes small, especially the KUYU styles, so if you decide to indulge in a pair or few yourself, size up!
Based on our experience with them, we also advise against wearing Rhizal grounded shoes in very wet or below-freezing conditions. The shoes are mostly made of leather (smooth or nubuck) or cowskin, and the soles are water buffalo leather, so they’re prone to damage in rain or snow. Additionally, the copper rivets in the soles are quite thermo-conductive…In other words, wearing them on icy / below-freezing surfaces can transmit the cold into your feet!
That said, copper is also an excellent conductor of electrical energy, including that of the Earth!
In this unboxing video, March highlights Rhizal’s NOMA and KUYU styles and tests their relative conductivity.

KUYU
Convenience rivals comfort in these clog-style, grounded slip-ons (we like to call them “slip-ins”), which come in four styles. The cowhide version here is soft to the touch with an undyed hair-on leather upper, lined with natural sheepskin for added warmth and comfort. The other three styles have smooth leather uppers with courser texture on the inside. All are available for both men and women. Choose a size or two larger than normal with this style!
NOMA
Barefoot style, these grounded ankle boots are made of nubuck leather or suede and are lined with plush natural shearling wool. Nomas come in two colors - black and clay; women’s sizes only.
Note - unlike UGG-style boots, the inner soles are not sheepskin lined; rather they are smooth buffalo leather…and they will ground you! Nomas fit snug at first and will stretch with wear.
ARKA
Looks like an old-school tennis shoe, feels like a leather glove. These leather-soled sneakers blend classic design with luxurious materials and simple, yet cutting-edge, grounding tech. Perfect for everyday wear…to class, coffeeshop and even frisbee in the park.
Two low-top styles and one cowhide high top style are available for both men and women.

BRIO
These casual, barefoot design, grounded slip ons come in nine different styles for both men and women, and four styles for kids. Choose from smooth leather, nubuck leather or natural cowhide uppers in a variety of colors - all with soft leather lining and leather inner and outer soles. A bestselling classic…for good reason!
Does RHIZAL Offer Discounts?
Via Leather Soles with Copper Rivets…Both materials are conductive, meaning they’ll allow the Earth’s natural electromagnetic energy to pass through the soles and into the feet. Copper is the more effective conductor, so it’s important that the rivet makes contact with your foot. If you wear socks with copper rivet grounding shoes, grounding socks are best. Learn more about grounding socks here.
For grounding shoes to ground you, it’s crucial that you stand / make sole contact with a natural Earth surface like grass or dirt when wearing them. Unpainted concrete and brick are also considered conductive surfaces; asphalt, vinyl, wood and painted concrete are not.
RHIZAL GROUNDED SHOES ARE BAREFOOT DESIGN
If you’re new to barefoot design, also known as barefoot style or minimalist, footwear, it’s a style of shoe that mimics the experience of going barefoot. That means a foot-shaped or roomy toe box - no forcing the toes into a narrow point. Barefoot style is also characterized by a flat, flexible sole with no arch support; the sole is “zero-drop” with toe and heel level.
Many barefoot shoes - Rhizal’s included - also have thin soles so wearers can better feel the ground beneath their feet. Such soles promote freedom of movement akin to being barefoot. Barefoot design is also thought to strengthen body musculature through more natural movement, unrestricted by heel elevation, arch support or toe squishing.
All this said, barefoot design does not in and of itself mean “grounded,” or Earth-connected. Many barefoot design shoes are ungrounded, even though they offer “ground feel.” Learn more in our blog: “Are Grounded Shoes the Same as Barefoot Shoes?”
Rest assured, Rhizal’s shoes are both grounded and barefoot design.
OUR TEAM WEARING RHIZAL
“As soon as I received my RHIZAL’s, I have worn both pairs daily for weeks. I bought the Miro and Kuyu styles - super comfortable and the quality is top notch. This is real cowhide, sheepskin fur and premium leather that you only get from a custom brand like Rhizal. You won’t find these on Amazon. Barefoot design, they nurture your foot with the sheepskin material. I wear the Kuyus mostly indoors like slippers and the Miros out and about.
Natural materials without plastics or toxic adhesives are a big plus….the way shoes were originally made. They do run a bit small so keep that in mind when ordering. I removed the laces on the Miros for ease and preferred look. Rhizal is a new brand to the space and I am thrilled with their products.”

"These shoes are awesome! High-quality, stylish leather, very pleasurable for the feet. They are very lightweight, really comfortable to walk long hiking trails, being grounded along the whole way.
It's an amazing energizing feeling to be connected to the Earth, passing challenging rocky routes along the cliffs by the ocean or having a relaxing walk in the shady park. They are great for both, making them a universal solution for day-to-day life. Highly recommended."

“I am smitten with these sheepskin-lined Kuyus and Noma boots! The quality is outstanding and they feel super cozy on. I love how easy it is to just get into the Kuyus. I’ve been wearing both pairs indoors on my grounding mat this winter - like slippers!””
RHIZAL also makes grounding sHEETS
Taking the grounded lifestyle to the next level, Rhizal recently launched fitted grounding sheets which plug into the ground port of an electrical outlet. (You can learn more about how this works on our Sleep Grounded page.)
Rhizal’s fitted grounded sheets come in five different sizes - from twin to Cal king - and three colors: light green, gray and white. Ninety-percent organic cotton, they are woven with silver threads which conduct Earth energy from the ground port to your body.
As with all grounded sleep devices, we recommend direct skin contact with them, that is - wear as little as you’re comfortable with for best grounding results.
