Softstar makes uniquely beautiful, handcrafted, leather shoes for adults and children that are barefoot design - that is, they give you the feeling of walking barefoot but with the protection only soles can offer. While we highly recommend Softstar’s barefoot design footwear for its high quality craftsmanship and natural materials, we no longer endorse them as grounding shoes. Recently we have been unable to verify through testing that Softstar leather-sole shoes will ground wearers under normal (dry) conditions. But we love their shoes and company values, and still feel that Softstar shoes are something special…
Besides their soft and comfy fit and feel, we love that Softstar shoes are made by hand and made to order in Oregon, USA using sustainable practices. Many styles can also be customized to your liking (more on this below).

What Shoe STYLEs Does Softstar OFFER?
LEATHER MOCCASINS, A.K.A. “ROOs”: Featuring uppers that wrap the feet in soft, breathable, Nubuck or smooth leather, plush sheepskin innersoles and suede (outer) soles, the Roos are among Step’s all-time favorite shoes…because he feels like he’s wearing luxurious slippers! Choose from Softstar’s selection or customize your own pair.
HAWTHORNE CHUKKAS: These grounded leather lace-ups look like ankle boots but feel more like moccasins. Natural bullhide leather outer soles; innersoles are suede and can be worn with or without socks.
BALLET FLATS: Premium, soft leather uppers and suede innersoles envelop the feet in comfy-casual elegance. Choose classic or sport closure style in black or customize with your favorite color(s).
DASH RUN AMOKS: These casual, soft leather lace ups offer versatility as both office and outdoor adventure footwear and feature ultra-flexible soles which conform to the natural shape of your feet.
SHEEPSKIN SLIPPERS: Last but not least, Softstar’s sheepskin slippers offer a treat for your feet. Feather light and fully lined with genuine sheepskin, these house mates feature flexible, suede leather soles for comfort. You may never want to take them off!

HOW CAN SOFTSTAR SHOES BE CUSTOMIZED?
With Softstar Roos, DASH Run Amoks and Ballerine Flats, you can tailor between three and seven different elements to your liking: front, back and side colors, thread and shoelace colors, reflective tab options and thickness and material of the soles. If you want to create your own signature shoe, look for the “customize your colors” button when shopping (it turns blue when you hover on it).

OUR TEAM’S THOUGHTS - SOFTSTAR SHOE REVIEWS
March here…I finally treated myself to a pair of Softstar Roo Moccasins and have been wearing them around the house and deck as slippers. The plush sheepskin inner sole adds luxurious cushioning and the smooth leather upper stays put around the ankles without being too tight.
While I wear mine as slippers at home, Step has worn his tan Roos traveling through at least two continents and says they are fantastic conversation starters. He’s now on his second pair.
Step and I each have a pair of Fireside Slippers, which are hands-down the most comfortable slippers both of us have ever had.
The Fireside Slippers are like walking in furry clouds - you won’t want to take them off!
Our mom also has a pair of the Roos (hey, they make great gifts), and loves them!
