Softstar makes uniquely beautiful, handcrafted, leather shoes for adults and children that are barefoot design - that is, they give you the feeling of walking barefoot but with the protection only soles can offer.
Besides their soft and comfy fit and feel, we love that Softstar shoes are made by hand and made to order in Oregon, USA using sustainable practices. Many styles can also be customized to your liking (more on this below).

It’s important to note here: not all Softstar shoes will ground you. Although they are all wonderfully made, many have rubber soles, which will block the flow of earth energy into your feet.
As such, we only recommend Softstar’s line of stylish, handcrafted, barefoot design shoes with leather soles on this page….because leather is conductive and will help you stay grounded.
Although you want to sweat in these shoes for optimal conductivity, you don’t want to slosh through puddles in them. Natural leather is not waterproof, hence Softstar grounding shoes are best worn in DRY conditions.
What STYLES of Grounding Shoes Does Softstar OFFER?
For adults, Softstar’s leather-soled, grounding shoe line includes:
LEATHER MOCCASINS, A.K.A. “ROOs”: Featuring uppers that wrap the feet in soft, breathable, Nubuck or smooth leather, plush sheepskin innersoles and suede (outer) soles, the Roos are among Step’s all-time favorite shoes…because he feels like he’s wearing luxurious slippers! Choose from Softstar’s selection or customize your own pair.
HAWTHORNE CHUKKAS: These grounded leather lace-ups look like ankle boots but feel more like moccasins. Innersoles are suede and can be worn with or without socks. Sheepskin innersoles also available for added warmth (more on these innersoles below).
BALLET FLATS: Premium, soft leather uppers and suede innersoles envelop the feet in comfy-casual elegance. Choose classic or sport closure style in black or customize with your favorite color(s).
DASH RUN AMOKS: These casual, soft leather lace ups offer versatility as both office and outdoor adventure footwear and feature ultra-flexible soles which conform to the natural shape of your feet.
SHEEPSKIN SLIPPERS: Last but not least, Softstar’s sheepskin slippers offer a treat for your feet. Feather light and fully lined with genuine sheepskin, these house mates feature flexible, suede leather soles for comfort and conductivity (if you choose to wear them to ground on a dry stone patio or unpainted concrete floor, for example).

HOW CAN SOFTSTAR SHOES BE CUSTOMIZED?
With Softstar Roos, DASH Run Amoks and Ballerine Flats, you can tailor between three and seven different elements to your liking: front, back and side colors, thread and shoelace colors, reflective tab options and thickness and material of the soles. If you want to create your own signature shoe, look for the “customize your colors” button when shopping (it turns blue when you hover on it).
Be sure to choose a leather sole when customizing if you want your shoes to be grounded. While rubber soles will have more tread and be less slippery, they’ll disconnect you from Earth’s energy.

For the ultimate experience of keeping your feet protected, dry, and comfortable, Softstar also offers deluxe sheepskin fleece innersoles for adults and children.
Sheepskin's natural wicking properties repel moisture, keeping your feet dry in the summer and cozy in the winter.
Although specifically designed for the Hawthorne Chukkas, you can add these grounding shoe inserts to any Softstar shoes made with regular suede innersoles - for warmth without socks in winter or simply for added plushness.

Whether for your own child or as an adorable gift for someone else’s, Softstar’s minimalist moccasins help keep kids grounded and protected, while feeling as close to barefoot as possible.
Baby and children’s sizes are available (up to a Youth 4): Smooth Leather Roo Moccasins for babies, as well as children, and Baby Buttercup Moccasins. All boast plush, genuine sheepskin innersoles and are suitable for indoor and dry outdoor use. The Smooth Leather Roos for babies and children are also customizable - so you can get creative with your little one’s style!
As with Softstar’s adult shoe lines, some of their children’s lines have rubber soles. Only the Roo and Buttercup Moccasins have leather soles that will keep kids grounded as well as feeling comfy and close to barefoot. Be sure to check sole material before purchasing if grounding functionality is a priority for you.
